He previously co-founded TuSimple, a leading autonomous driving company listed on NASDAQ (TSP), and served as engineering partner and senior vice president of engineering. He steered TuSimple to become the first autonomous driving firm to complete an IPO.

He held full responsibility for the research and development and productization of its autonomous driving system software and hardware. He liaised with world-leading OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, leading the team to develop and deploy the world’s first fully driverless autonomous trucking operations.

Mr. Huang obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science and technology from Beihang University, and a master’s degree in robotics from Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. He holds more than 20 patents issued in China and the US.

He has published multiple papers in core academic journals, owned proprietary intellectual property patents and delivered commercialized products in fields including computer vision, facial analysis and driver monitoring systems.

He previously served as general manager of SANY Heavy Truck and vice president of R&D and procurement at Beijing Foton Daimler. With over 30 years of experience in the commercial vehicle industry, he maintains a longstanding focus on heavy-duty commercial vehicle development in China and supplier resource management.

During his tenure at SANY Heavy Truck, he built the business from scratch and steered SANY into a top national commercial vehicle brand within three years.

At Beijing Foton Daimler, he presided over the R&D of multiple generations of heavy-duty truck products and led the launch of Auman Heavy Duty Truck into the Chinese market. Auman has secured a spot among China’s Top 5 heavy-duty truck brands and firmly maintained its position in the first-tier segment.

Mr. Zhang obtained a bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering from Jilin University and a doctorate in safety engineering from Wuhan University of Technology.

He previously held multiple senior roles including group vice president of Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd., executive vice president of Foton Daimler, member of the standing committee of the Party Committee and deputy general manager of Foton Motor Group.

He also served as an executive director and deputy general manager of Sinotruk Group.

He boasts 25 years of operational and management experience in the automotive and commercial vehicle industries, with proven track records of successful market strategy implementation at China’s leading heavy-duty truck manufacturers. He possesses profound insights and forward-looking vision for the development of the heavy-duty truck sector.

Mr. Zhang holds a master’s degree from Jilin University of Technology.
